PERSONAL WORK POP-UP

The Oddly Satisfying Spa: Bushwick

CREATOR

A Pop-up Spa to Soothe the Senses

The Oddly Satisfying Spa was a 3-day pop-up showcase of immersive art and technology that I created in 2018 at The Spectrum’s Dreamhouse. Featuring over 7,000 sq ft of immersive art and technology, The Oddly Satisfying Spa takes a tongue-in-cheek look at wellness culture and digital media. Visitors refrained from using their phones, maintained a whisper, and moved slowly through the large art space with fuzzy slippers. Once inside, guests were greeted with a short ASMR meditation and introduction to the space, before exploring the many rooms including the Placebo Bar, the Fuzzidarium, the Kinetic Sand Dome, a Virtual Mind Massage, the Ambient Plant Music Room, and the Cosmic Steam Room. The experience lasted 1.5 hours, sold out for all seven sessions, received considerable press, and saw about 300 visitors.
