A New Kind of EPK

In 2016 The Ink Factory reached out to me looking to use immersive technology to expand the world of Hotel Artemis - an exciting sci-fi action film set in a near-future Los Angeles, starring Jodie Foster, Dave Bautista, Jeff Goldblum, and more.  I joined the production on set in Los Angeles and set to creating a strategy for collecting and utilizing 3D assets of the incredible set that the Hotel Artemis art department had created.  The process of documenting the set included some light LIDAR scans and texture reference photography.  A year later, the assets were finally used to create a fun AR Snapchat filter that allows users to walk through one of the medical suites featured in the film.  Users scan their face and then use the front facing camera to explore the suite full of details from the film like branded napkins, a medical device screen, and a bloody pillow.
